Yoichi Kassai
Managing Director, Head of Project Finance, Solution Products Division, MUFG
Yoichi has over 25 years’ experience in the banking industry joining MUFG in 1994, with exposure to broad range of banking business including corporate finance, investment banking, and corporate planning. From 2004 to 2010, he was posted in New York as Vice President of Investment Banking Division for the Americas, where he led and managed a planning team of the division covering project finance, asset finance, structured trade finance, and leasing. From 2010 to 2015, he held the role of Senior Manager of Corporate Banking Division No.3 in Tokyo, where he led the relationship management team for the Japanese large trading firms and its affiliates. Yoichi took a leading role in a range of high profile and complex corporate and project financings. Some of the landmark transactions in which he managed and led include: Guara MV23 FPSO project(Brazil), Cernambi Sul MV24 FPSO project(Brazil), TEN MV25 FPSO project (Ghana), Safi Coal-fired IPP project (Morocco), Paiton Expansion Project (Indonesia) and C2C Wind and PV Solar Portfolio (Canada). From 2015 he held the role of Chief Manager of Global Planning Division, where he lead the Global Financial Management Department for Global Business Unit (GBU) of MUFG as Deputy General Manager of Global Planning Division. From April 2019, he is Managing Director and Head of Project Finance, where he leads the professionals in MUFG with significant project finance presence around the globe.
