Senior Engineer, Floating Wind, Offshore Wind Consultants Ltd. Japan

Masataka Nakagawa is working as a Senior Engineer at Offshore Wind Consultant (OWC) since June 2021. He is a marine, structural and civil engineer with significant knowledge and experience for floating offshore wind project in Japan over 4 years. He has worked as an engineer at one of Japanese construction company, being responsible for performing integrated load assessments of floating wind foundations. In addition, he has a hands-on construction management experience at project site including site preparation work, foundation construction work, onshore assembly work (foundation – tower), and offshore installation work. He was also responsible for design optimization of mooring system for floating turbines.
Furthermore, he had a six-month professional experience at international major oil & gas company covering offshore wind market studies in Japan, specifically, focused on site selection activities for offshore wind projects. He was responsible for identifying and summarizing the legal framework status and its changes, wind farm certification process led by the local classification society Class NK, the progress of nomination of promoted areas by Japanese government, environmental impact assessment, supply chain assessment and grid capability assessment.
His area of expertise includes early-stage development including site selection and foundation selection, foundation design with wide expertise in floating offshore wind, owner’s engineering and project management.
