This position involves providing strategic leadership guidance, ensuring robust governance, and fostering stakeholder relationships to advance renewable energy initiatives, in a non-executive role. The Chairman champions environmental sustainability drives business development, and bridges cultural integration between local teams and global headquarters, all while navigating Japan’s unique regulatory and market dynamics.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Working together with the Country Manager, advising to develop the company’s long-term vision and strategy for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and energy storage.
- Collaborate with the board and executive team to ensure alignment with sustainability goals and corporate objectives.
Governance:
- Ensure compliance with Japanese regulations and international standards for renewable energy development.
- Chair board meetings, fostering effective decision-making and accountability.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Represent the company in discussions with government officials, industry leaders, and community stakeholders to promote renewable energy initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with investors, partners, and local communities to support project development.
Business Development:
- Identify opportunities for expansion in Japan and globally, focusing on innovative renewable energy solutions.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships to enhance the company’s portfolio.
Sustainability Advocacy:
- Champion the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and renewable energy innovation.
- Promote awareness of renewable energy benefits within the organization and externally.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in executive leadership roles, preferably in renewable energy or related industries.
- Strong understanding of Japanese business culture, renewable energy regulations, and market dynamics.
- Proven track record in strategic planning, corporate governance, and sustainability advocacy.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to a range of audiences
- Extensive network in the renewable energy investment sector
- Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, capable of driving change and innovation.
- Fluency in Japanese and English (*Native Japanese is preferred)
