Leads the applied technology activities for the Geophysical, Hydrographic Survey and Coastal businesses within the Marine Site Characterisation (MSC) business line for the Asia Pacific region.

Manages client – and business – focused applied technologies from concept to commercial operations. Serves as conduit between global innovation teams and the business. Participates in global technical steering groups for MSC.

Well versed in multitude of geophysical operation for various platform – AUV, USV, Offshore Vessel, Nearshore Vessel, Drone etc.

This role covers the Asia Pacific region and works closely with the respective regional technical teams to build best practices and competencies covering (and not limited to) vessel acquisition efficiency, data processing efficiency, end-product quality, automation, and safety, with rapidly deployed applied technologies.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop agile strategies with Service Line Directors / Operations Managers to improve vessel acquisition efficiency end-product quality, automation, and safety, with rapidly deployed applied technologies.
  • Collaborating closely with the Global Geophysical Technical Group (GTG) to improve the technical and operational delivery in Marine Geophysics across all the regions.
  • Work with Commercial Managers to review technical aspects of major tenders to seek opportunities to submit alternate bids offering differentiating technologies or methodologies, to produce win-win offerings to our clients while improving Fugro’s margins.
  • Work closely with the GTG to discuss/clarify areas of innovation and working closely with Fugro’s Legal/I.P. Teams to protect Fugro’s technologies and methods.
  • Work closely with Service Line Managers and Regional Business Line Directors, to prioritize global R&D projects best aligned with our regional business.
  • Visit key equipment hardware and software vendors to keep vendor aligned with Fugro future business needs and seek creative ways to leverage Fugro information/intelligence. This task will be in close association with Resource Cost Center Managers who are responsible to plan and procure equipment on an annual or project basis.
  • As required, attend pre-project client meetings to understand principal risks for potential projects.
  • Attends post-project client debriefings to clearly understand Fugro and customer pain-points and lessons learned, and to brainstorm on how Fugro can improve, as catalyst for future applied technology.
  • Technical advisor to all technical teams in the APAC region and provides guidance for improving field operations with applied technology and ensuring that projects are planned in compliance capturing Fugro’s innovation and best practices.
  • Shares best practices with global MSC steering teams (USV, AUV, OWF) and influencing global practice for the better.
  • Works closely with BL/SL Managers to specify and achieve project objectives, particularly where differentiation and efficiencies are sought.
  • Ensures the successful transfer of completed product and process innovation from development teams to the MSC businesses/users.
  • Participates as a senior collaborator with Operational Excellence to drive “Delivery Excellence” in Geophysical, Hydrographic and Coastal Resilience business.
  • Provides direct communication to BL/SL management on progress, opportunities, and issues, via monthly calls and quarterly reports.

 

You should preferably possess the following:

  • Education: Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering or related field from four-year college or university (Advanced degree or MBA preferred)
  • Working experience: 8-15 years. Experience with applied technologies in geophysics and hydrographic industries.  Practical offshore project experience would be essential.
  • Management experience: 3-8 years, Project management experience.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent persuasive and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and strategize.
  • Good networking abilities.
  • Other   Seismic engineering and Hardware experience in the following areas; Sonar Imagery, Acoustic / Seismic Engineering, Single/Multibeam ES, Multi-Channel HR/UHR/UUHR Seismic.
