As part of their expansion in Japan’s onshore wind sector, they are hiring an experienced Manager – Onshore Wind Project Management to join their project delivery team in Tokyo.
Role Overview
We are looking for a capable and results-driven Manager – Onshore Wind Project Management to lead the execution of onshore wind projects across Japan. You will take charge of the full project lifecycle – from contract negotiation to budget oversight, stakeholder coordination, and site delivery – ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
The role requires collaboration across internal teams and external partners, as well as effective communication with local authorities and lenders. You’ll play a vital role in advancing Japan’s renewable energy capacity.
Responsibilities:
* Lead project execution for onshore wind developments, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality targets.
* Oversee contract structuring and negotiations, including TSA, LTSA, and BoP agreements, in coordination with legal advisors.
* Monitor project milestones and develop mitigation strategies to address risks and schedule deviations.
* Conduct cost analysis and manage CAPEX and DEVEX, including project cash flow planning and financial reporting.
* Engage regularly with lenders, subcontractors, site personnel, and internal teams to align on technical and financial objectives.
* Ensure compliance with construction plans, lender requirements, and quality management systems.
* Facilitate project documentation including NTPs, certificates, and executive-level status reports.
* Coordinate risk and opportunity registers with clear mitigation and achievement strategies.
* Represent the project in local stakeholder meetings and manage community and partner relations.
* Support procurement and technical service functions in areas such as vendor assessment and Class NK documentation.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 4 years of experience in managing renewable energy projects, ideally onshore wind.
* Certification in Project Management (e.g. PMP, IPMA Level C or higher) is strongly preferred.
* Proven understanding of EPC project delivery in wind energy.
* Strong negotiation, planning, and stakeholder management capabilities.
* Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams.
* Fluency in both Japanese and English is essential.
Location: Tokyo, Japan (travel to project sites required)
