To support its growing project pipeline, the company is now seeking an experienced Senior Project Development Manager – Solar to lead project development activities across the country.



Role Overview

We are looking for a highly capable Senior Project Development Manager – Solar to lead the end-to-end development of utility-scale solar PV projects in Japan. You will take responsibility for project origination, feasibility assessment, permitting, and coordination with local authorities and stakeholders through to financial close.
This is a key leadership role that will shape the company’s solar portfolio in Japan and offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of renewable energy in one of Asia’s most dynamic markets.



Responsibilities:

* Lead the full project development cycle for ground-mounted solar PV projects across Japan, from site identification to ready-to-build status.
* Oversee feasibility assessments, permitting processes, land acquisition, grid connection applications, and regulatory compliance.
* Work closely with engineering, legal, and finance teams to drive projects forward against internal milestones.
* Act as the main interface with government authorities, utilities, and local communities throughout the development process.
* Manage third-party consultants, advisors, and contractors during development phases.
* Prepare and present reports on project progress, risks, and KPIs to internal stakeholders.
* Contribute to project structuring and support commercial and technical due diligence.
* Ensure project execution aligns with company standards, local laws, and ESG best practices.



Requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Environmental Science, or a related field.
* Minimum of 7 years’ experience in renewable energy project development, with a focus on utility-scale solar PV.
* Strong knowledge of Japan’s regulatory framework for renewables, permitting procedures, and grid interconnection processes.
* Fluent Japanese language skills are essential; English proficiency is highly desirable.
* Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage external partners.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
* Familiarity with project financial modeling, development risk analysis, and commercial structuring is a plus.



Location:
 Japan (Tokyo preferred; travel to project sites required)
