Key Responsibilities: 

  • Providing technical assistance during the project development phase and ensure the factors influencing and influenced by the grid connections are considered and managed.
  • Coordinate the development of interfaces and deliverables with other packages as well as manage project specific design processes, execute strategies for development, lead the tender process and execution.
  • Lead overall technical development of the grid connection and electrical systems for the offshore wind projects, onshore and offshore
  • Manage and be responsible for the process of grid applications ensuring they are submitted in a timely manner and progress through the TSO’s, DNOs’ and national requirements and processes without delay
  • Develop and maintain relationships with competent authority to support the grid application and delivery process
  • Maintain relationships and cooperate with grid co-developers in developing, construct and operating joint grid facilities
  • Carry out technical due diligence and risk assessment on grid connection conditions/agreements
  • Negotiate and develop grid connections design that reduces installation time and cost whilst maintaining or improving project performance
  • Manage both internal and external resources for the related design works, systems studies and analyses etc.
  • Lead engagement and communication (internal and external) on the on-going changes to the local grid system design and charging regime
  • Review and mange Programme Requirements for both internal and external stakeholder ensuring the project to capture all grid connection milestones
  • Ensure grid code compliance and latest regulatory framework requirements are implemented on the project
  • Ensure all grid connection costs are clearly understood and captured in financial modelling and risk registers
  • Maintain and enhance HSE in planning of package scope and support risk management within the package
  • Review the technical designs submitted by HV/MV contractors or EPC to company requirements and to achieve cost efficiency without compromising quality
  • Manage the grid and electrical system key interfaces with but not limited to:
    • Supply Chain and Procurement Lead and Legal Lead in relation to supply chain and procurement activities
    • Connection and supply related agreements
    • Offshore and Onshore Consents Leads: Supporting the consents team in relation to design solutions, specifications and other opportunities to facilitate the successful and timely consenting of the project collection systems
    • Support with community and stakeholder engagement activities
    • Other related technical and commercial leads for design alignment and LCOE optimization
  • Input to the project management aspects of the projects
    • Project risk register and manage and report on those allocated to you
    • Project programme (schedule)
  • Manage design decision processes & design change processes
  • Manage and report on your assigned DEVEX budget

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant degree in electrical power systems and/or electrical engineering
  • Offshore wind / renewable plants in Korea (including securing interconnection capacity), together with grid code compliance
  • Experienced in offshore wind development, particularly familiarity with respect to consenting regime and transmission system design
  • Knowledge of Standards associated with electrical system design of grid connected power projects, including knowledge of key aspects of the regulatory regime such as the Grid Code and Security and Quality of Supply Standard (SQSS).
  • 10+ years of experience in relevant or similar field of work. (e.g., connecting complex renewables projects into the grid network) preferably direct experience in development of offshore wind projects
  • Demonstrable experience leading, motivating and managing teams of engineers and external consultants
  • Strong project management experience
  • Excellent coordination and co-operation skills; a team player who is willing and able to work with others to solve problems and share knowledge
  • Comfortable flagging problems when they arise and asking for help when needed
  • Ability to be proactive while working independently
  • Culturally aware with a high level of emotional intelligence to work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills in English, strong organisational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity and shape processes and systems.
